Last week, Professor Kingma e-mailed the lot of us and asked if anyone was interested in going to an award night for SU's esteemed alumni. I (and 4 other people) responded with great interest. There's nothing like a night away from the dining hall.
Hikari, Alex, and I dressed up all fancy and headed down to Goldstein. There were barely any freshmen there but we mingled to the best of our abilities.

We were seated with a bunch of entrepreneurs (some of which went on the Oswegatchie trip) and enjoyed a nice dinner with creative company.

Dinner concluded and Chancellor Nancy Cantor introduced the four candidates for the Arents Award:
Dennis Crawley- S.I Newhouse c/o '98 and co-founder and CEO of the mobile app social network foursquare. He was awarded for excellence in social media.
It's always really inspiring to see such a young person so successful. Gives me hope. |
Art Monk- Visual and Performing Arts c/o '80 with a 16-year football career, an induction in the College Football Hall of Fame, and founder of the Good Samaritan Foundation. He was awarded for excellence in athletic performance and social service.
Jane Werner- Arts and Sciences c/o '56 and founder of the Friends of Leadership & Public Service High School (there's a girl on my floor from this school). She was awarded for excellence in philanthropy.
Thom Filicia- Visual and Performing Arts c/o '93 as a respected interior designer and founder of Thom Filicia Inc.
